This Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie recipe comes together with just 3 ingredients (no milk or yogurt required)! Packed with colorful fruit, it’s sweet, creamy, and so refreshing. Great to prep in advance, it’s been a family-favorite breakfast or afternoon snack for years in my home!
If I’m being honest, I make smoothies nearly every day, no matter the season. However, when warm weather hits, I find myself adding ingredients to my blender even more often, and this Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie is one of my go-to options. Sweet, tangy, and made with simple ingredients, it’s perfect for summer mornings when I’m rushing to get my little ones out the door or just can’t be bothered to stay in a hot kitchen.
The natural sweetness of the strawberries balances perfectly with the bright, tropical flavor of pineapple, and ripe banana brings it all together, creating a thick, creamy consistency. A hit with both kids and adults, I guarantee you’ll find yourself making this recipe all summer long!

Ingredients (Just 3 Are All You Need!)
- Frozen Strawberries – You can let them defrost slightly for easier mixing, but I include them completely frozen for a thicker consistency.
- Frozen Pineapple Chunks – I can typically find frozen pineapple in the frozen smoothie section of my local grocery store, but you can also freeze fresh chunks. Just avoid canned pineapple. The syrup will cause the smoothie to be too sweet.
- Ripe Bananas – I use two medium-sized bananas, but you can use just one if you have extra-large fruit. Just don’t skip them, because they are what give the smoothie a creamy texture. The riper your bananas, the sweeter your smoothie will taste!

Just combine the frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple, bananas, and 1 ½ cups of water in a blender (I love my Vitamix). Blend until smooth and creamy, adding additional water if needed to reach a smooth, pourable consistency.
My Top Tips
If using fresh fruit, add a cup of ice to make sure the texture and temperature are smoothie-like. Otherwise, you’ll have a consistency more similar to fruit juice.
🍓 Stop and scrape the sides of the blender as needed to ensure all the ingredients are well incorporated and smooth.
🍓 I used 10-ounce bags of frozen fruit, but if you have 1-pound bags, just use the entire bag and increase the amount of water you add as needed.
🍓 Once blended, store the smoothie in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze it for up to 6 months.
Possible Variations and Mix-Ins
- Fruit – Add mango, peaches, or a handful of fresh blueberries for a fun, fruity twist.
- Protein – Include a scoop of your favorite plain, vanilla, or tropical-flavored protein powder for a more filling option.
- Greens – Mix in a handful of fresh or frozen spinach. It blends in easily, and you won’t even taste it!
- Flavor Enhancers – Add a splash of vanilla extract, a squeeze of lime juice, or a few fresh mint leaves for a refreshing spin.
- Creamier Texture – Swap some or all of the water for almond milk, coconut water, orange juice, or a splash of canned coconut milk. Or, add Greek yogurt or plant-based yogurt instead.
- Tangy Flavor – Add a small piece of fresh ginger or a squeeze of lemon juice for a bright, tangy kick.
- Chia or Flax Seeds – Stir in a tablespoon of whichever you have on hand for added fats, fiber, and nutrients.
- Make It a Smoothie Bowl – Use just a little less liquid, spoon the mixture into a bowl, and top it with Slow Cooker Granola, coconut flakes, or fresh fruit for a satisfying smoothie bowl.
