Our little June is four months old. Actually…four months and a bit. Remember back when I thought I was busy and wrote a post on Molly and Clara every month of their first year? That was nice. It really is true that third kids are probably documented less. But we make up for that with the sheer volume of love and kisses that are showered on those sweet baby cheeks. Molly and Clara are the most adoring big sisters, and offer June so much love that we occasionally have to remind them to give her a bit of space. 😉

June is a peanut, weighing in at 12lbs 9oz, but she makes up for her petite size with giant gummy smiles. This baby is happy. She giggles easily and smiles at strangers in the grocery store line. She’ll break into a huge smile when she hears her sisters come charging into the room. She’s content in her bouncy seat, grabbing at her feet and grinning to herself while life buzzes on around her.

I’ve very quickly remembered just how much fun babies are starting to be at this age. They learn new tricks every day, and it’s fascinating to sit back and watch them try to master them. Just yesterday June started blowing raspberries with her mouth and can do it for long stretches. It results in a lot of drool, but is absolutely adorable.

She only moderately tolerates tummy time. She adores her fingers and loves to clasp her hands in front of her face, examining them closely each time. She’s been getting her thumb into her mouth consistently for weeks now and will usually settle right down to sleep once she finds it.

As for Frank and I? Life as parents of three is fun and crazy and exhausting. I’m struck most every day by the amount of logistics required to run this household of five. Coordinating preschool pick-ups and Christmas concert outfits, calling plumbers and locksmiths and handymen, staying on top of the laundry, setting up playdates and doctor’s appointments and babysitters, and oh…that small thing of keeping everyone fed. Plus doing our jobs. And taking some time for ourselves every once in a while. And watering the Christmas tree. 😉 I don’t take any of this for granted. I feel so fortunate to be in this young kid phase of life. I just need to carve out a few minutes every day to pause and take in the awesomeness of it all.

June is a delight! We feel lucky every day that she’s joined our little fam.
