Champagne Cocktail in glasses

Delightfully festive, this champagne cocktail uses pomegranate and pear liqueurs and sparkling wine. It is topped with pomegranate seeds that dance delightfully in the bubbles.

Does anything sound more happy than dancing in bubbles?  Or as our daughters say, “bubbles, BUBBLES!”

Making a cocktail is even more fun when you can do it at 4 in the afternoon on a Thursday and call it work. When everyone arrived for dinner last Thursday evening to find Frank and I with champagne glasses in hand, we told them we had to do it.

For work.

Pomegranate Pear Champagne Cocktail

Yes the combination of pomegranate and pears with bubbly champagne is perfect for a holiday get-together (or random Thursday night) this time of year, but what really makes this champagne cocktail fun are the pomegranate seeds that quite actually play in the glass.  These fun little seeds bounce up and down in the bubbles while you sip.

Bonus points for whacking the seeds out yourself, Martha Stewart style.

And those seeds, by the way, have become a hot commodity in our house.  Molly and Clara devoured those things like they were candy!

If you’re looking for another cocktail for your rotation in addition to this one, another thing we’ve been devouring in our house is this paper plane drink. It’s beautiful, tart and oh so delicious!

  1. I found your blog whilst searching for something to do with the bottle of Pama I just received, preferably something festive for Christmas dinner. I skimmed this recipe, then spent a lot of time on all the others. I love your taste, writing, photography and attention. Thanks for the effort! In this age of information, where every shred of fact and fiction is available with a few clicks, the ability to curate – and to do so in a consistent and true way – is truly admirable. I’m excited to see what comes next. As a consummate host, I obviously just previewed this cocktail (prior to serving it on Friday). I had to use poire william (pear brandy), as in Canada, things French are far more available than Swedish (if that is where Absolut Pear is from). I reduced the amount of poire william to half of the Pama, as it is strong. It is lovely. Thanks for your creativity! Merry Christmas 🙂

    1. Thanks so much for your note Kay – I’m so glad you enjoyed it and were able to find some substitutions that worked. I do love Poire William, though it’s definitely strong! Merry Christmas to you!
